Handmade with love in Pays de la Loire, France

My craft is about finding spirituality in the manual gesture and a strong connection to the earth. It is about the extraordinary in everyday objects.

I am Landy Rakoto, a French ceramicist and potter living and working in Brissac Quince, France. I work on clay as an introspective practice. It is about the repeated gesture, it is also about the joy of finding beauty in the world and the mundane moments. My approach explores rustic, brutalist, and classic designs, with a love for organic textures and bold but comfortable shapes.

Beautiful functional objects fascinate me. Diving into a practice explored by humankind for thousands of years as well. What really makes sense to me today: durability, sustainability, and the touch of the human hand.

I started my journey in Berlin, working in a community studio in Neukölln and then sharing the atelier of Jérémy Bellina. I then move to Brissac-Quincé in France Pays de la Loire region where I set up my own studio in my home at the end of 2021.
